The short version
- · We never sell, rent or share your data, and we don't run ads.
- · Children never create accounts and never log in.
- · Public fundraising pages show a first name and last initial only - never a full name, photo, address or class list.
- · Student pages are blocked from search engines.
- · We never see or store card numbers. Payments go straight to Stripe.
Who we are
PledgeHop provides fundraising software to schools and parent groups. The school or parent group decides what information to put into PledgeHop; we process it on their behalf.
Information we collect
From school staff and volunteers
Name, role, email address, and an encrypted password. This is used to sign you in and to contact you about your fundraiser.
About students
A first name, a last name or initial, a grade, and a teacher or class name - whatever the school chooses to upload. That is all. We do not collect student email addresses, dates of birth, photographs, home addresses, ID numbers, grades, attendance, health or disciplinary information.
Students do not have accounts and cannot sign in. All information about a student is entered by an adult at the school.
From donors
Name, email address, the amount pledged, and any message left for the student. Card details are entered directly with our payment processor - PledgeHop never receives or stores card numbers.
Automatically
Standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) used to keep the service running and secure.
How student information is shown publicly
A student's fundraising page shows their first name and last initial (for example, "Emma R."), their class, and how much has been pledged. Full last names are visible only to signed-in staff at that school.
Each page is reached through a long, randomly generated link, and every student and
leaderboard page carries a noindex
instruction plus a robots.txt exclusion, so search engines do not list them.
How we use information
To run fundraisers, process pledges and donations, send receipts and service emails, provide support, and keep the service secure. We do not use student information for advertising, marketing, profiling, or to build any kind of profile, and we never sell it.
Who we share it with
Only the service providers needed to operate PledgeHop:
- · Stripe - payment processing. Donors' card details go directly to Stripe.
- · Brevo - sending receipts and account emails.
- · Our hosting provider - running the servers and databases.
We may also disclose information where legally required. We do not otherwise share, sell, rent or trade personal information.
Schools and districts
The school controls its own data. A school may export or request deletion of its information at any time by contacting us, and we will delete it within 30 days unless we are required to keep records for tax or accounting purposes.
Parents who want their child removed from a fundraiser should contact the school, which can remove the student immediately. We are happy to sign a district data privacy agreement on request.
Keeping information
Rosters and campaign records are kept while the school has an active account. Records of money moved are kept for seven years, as tax and accounting rules require. Closing an account removes roster information within 30 days.
Security
All traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Passwords are stored hashed, never in plain text. Each school's data is isolated so no school can see another's students, donors or pledges. Card data never touches our servers.
